Tottenham supporters are certainly familiar with apathy and such a feeling wasn't expected to manifest during Ange Postecoglou's debut season, yet here we are.

A campaign which initially promised so much is fading away. Three defeats on the bounce - the latest a 2-0 loss at Chelsea on Thursday night - have compromised their hopes of Champions League football and many fans have resigned themselves to a fifth-place finish and the superior Europa League theme tune.

Spurs are merely going through the motions and it doesn't get much easier for Postecoglou's side. A trip to Anfield, a stadium where they haven't won since 2011, is up next.

Here's the team Postecoglou could pick for Sunday's trip to Liverpool.

GK: Guglielmo Vicario - Good news: there was no concession from a corner on Thursday. Bad news: Spurs did concede from two free-kicks. Pesky set-pieces, eh?

RB: Pedro Porro - The Spaniard's dip in form depicts Postecoglou's unit as a whole. Nevertheless, Porro is a shoo-in to continue in his do-it-all right-back role on Sunday.

CB: Cristian Romero - Let's all be a little more like Cuti, fellas. Romero continues to shine for a fading Tottenham team.

CB: Micky van de Ven - Van de Ven was really fast again at Stamford Bridge and, alongside Romero, was one of just a couple of players who performed close to the level supporters expect.

LB: Emerson Royal - Emerson could work as a left-back, just not in this set-up. If he does play, Postecoglou must adjust and not constantly force the Brazilian into areas where he never looks comfortable.

DM: Yves Bissouma - While Bissouma fails to supply the requisite control, he hasn't performed badly over the past week and probably deserves to keep his place in the team.

CM: Rodrigo Bentancur - It's been a frustrating season for Bentancur due to injuries; failing to find any rhythm as a result. He's drifted in and out of the team in recent weeks.

CM: James Maddison - Maddison was deservedly benched on Thursday, but Tottenham did have issues in his absence. The England international is fighting for his spot at Euro 2024 during the final few weeks of the season.

RW: Brennan Johnson - With Timo Werner out, Postecoglou needs Johnson's speed to exploit the gaping void in behind Liverpool's backline.

ST: Richarlison - The Brazilian was back in the starting XI at Stamford Bridge but never got a sniff of Djordje Petrovic's goal. The former Everton forward will be keen to make an impression at Anfield on Sunday.

LW: Son Heung-min - Spurs' tame display in west London was typified by their captain, who was bereft of any assertion all night. Postecoglou needs the South Korean to step up during the final month of the season to ensure Spurs carry some momentum into the summer and beyond.
