Tottenham could do with someone like Weston McKennie in their midfield, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Spurs are long term admirers of the USA international and were once again linked with his services in the summer.

What’s the latest news involving McKennie?

According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, McKennie will consider his future at Juventus after the World Cup, with the Premier League of interest to him.

The report also claims the Old Lady would be open to selling him at the right price, which could be around £20m, although Antonio Conte’s side are still undecided whether to launch a bid.

But sporting director Fabio Paratici did help bring the £37,000 per-week midfielder to Juventus from Schalke for £16m back in 2020, which could help Spurs’ potential pursuit of the 24-year-old.

And O’Rourke reckons that with McKennie offering a genuine goal threat, plus having everything to succeed in the Premier League, he would a great addition for Tottenham.

What did O’Rourke say about McKennie?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s a great opportunity going up against England for the United States to see how he can cope against Premier League players as well.

“He’s got all the attributes to be a success in the Premier League. He’s a strong runner, he’s got great energy, great fitness and he can get into the box and score goals as well and that’s probably what Tottenham are missing from their midfield so far this season.”

How has McKennie performed this season?

Juventus are enduring a wretched campaign, with the Old Lady already out of the Champions League and now in a serious battle to finish third in their group, while they’re currently eighth in Serie A.

But on a personal level, McKennie is enjoying a productive time of things, continuing where he left off after a positive first couple of years with the Italian giants.

His goal against Benfica on Tuesday night, which came close to mounting an incredible fight back from 4-1 down, was his third strike of the season, to go with his one assist, in 15 matches.

13 goals and laid on four assists in just under 100 outings for Juve, which is a very decent record for someone who scored just five times in a similar number of games during his time at Schalke.
