Tottenham Hotspur targets Youssoufa Moukoko and Marcus Thuram would be the ideal signings for how Spurs want to shape their squad, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Moukoko and Thuram, who have 70 senior club goals between them, would add more firepower to Spurs’ attack and offer competition to Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

How have Moukoko and Thuram performed this season?

Both Moukoko and Thuram reside in the Bundesliga, where they’ve enjoyed impressive starts to the current campaign.

The 2022/23 season has been 18-year-old Moukoko’s breakthrough term at Borussia Dortmund. The teenager has already made 14 top flight appearances, scoring six goals, and has been used more frequently by boss Edin Terzic following Sebastien Haller’s illness.

Moukoko’s form saw him earn a call-up to the German national team and was included in the country’s squad for the 2022 World Cup.

Over at Borussia Monchengladbach, Thuram – son of France World Cup winner Lilian Thuram – has been in scintillating form and only Christopher Nkunku has scored more goals in Germany than Thuram’s 10 league goals so far this season.

The 25-year-old is also in Qatar as part of France’s final squad, who are looking to retain their World Cup crown.

What does Dean Jones say about the possible additions of Moukoko and Thuram?

Jones believes that by signing Moukoko and Thuram, their profiles will fall in line with the kind of players Tottenham want at the club.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Yeah, definitely they could both add to what they’ve got. They both make sense in different ways from things I’ve heard about how they intend to move the squad on.”

Could Spurs sign the pair in January?

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has already expressed a desire to add more depth to his Spurs squad in the January window if they are to compete for major trophies this season.

The club have been linked with defensive reinforcements, with Conte’s former Inter Milan centre-back Stefan de Vrij reportedly already holding talks with the north London side, while James Maddison also remains on the club’s radar as a potential addition.

However, Thuram could present a potentially cheaper option with Monchengladbach looking to get a fee for the player before his contract runs out in the summer. The German club could look for as little as £8million to allow him to move in January’s window, with Inter Milan interested and Bayern Munich already looking at signing him on a free in the summer.

Moukoko may not be as straightforward. Spurs have sent scouts to watch the teenager, but the German star may yet reject their advances and stay at Dortmund beyond this season.
