Tottenham Hotspur returning for AS Roma attacker Nicolo Zaniolo is probably off the table, Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has told GiveMeSport.

The Italian was a target for Spurs earlier in the window and is still on the market after turning down a move to Bournemouth, but Bridge thinks the north London club going back in for him is unlikely.

Tottenham transfer news – Nicolo Zaniolo

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham wanted to sign Zaniolo this month. At the time, Sky Italy reported that Roma valued their player at £35m.

Spurs’ interest, however, seemed to cool, giving Premier League rivals Bournemouth the chance to march in and make a move for Zaniolo.

The Cherries have been unsuccessful in their bid to land him, though, with Sky Italy also claiming that he has rejected the chance to join Gary O’Neil’s side.

As for Tottenham, they have still managed to strengthen their attack this transfer window by bringing Arnaut Danjuma in on loan from Villarreal.

What has Michael Bridge said about Nicolo Zaniolo and Tottenham?

Bridge doesn’t see Tottenham reigniting their interest in Zaniolo before the transfer window closes.

When asked if the Italy international moving to the Premier League is definitely off, the Sky Sports reporter told GMS: “It is with Tottenham unless anything changes absolute last minute. I was told that that one had gone away and it didn’t look like he was interested in a move to Bournemouth.

“Obviously, you’ve got the [Jose] Mourinho quotes on him wanting to go, but it looks like he’s at a stalemate unless someone comes in last minute.”

They can survive without him, especially after signing Danjuma, who has already made an instant impact.

The Netherlands international, of course, managed to score on his debut, netting in Spurs’ 3-0 FA Cup win against Preston North End.

Even before his arrival, Antonio Conte already had a good set of attacking options. In Harry Kane, he easily has one of the best centre-forwards in the world at his disposal, while Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison are also dangerous players.

Son is not having the best of seasons, scoring just four goals in the Premier League, as per Transfermarkt. But his overall record for Tottenham since arriving at Hotspur Way is exceptional. In total, he has found the back of the net 139 times in 352 outings.

Ultimately, Zaniolo is probably not going to be the difference between qualifying for the Champions League and missing out on it for Spurs.
