Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (28) is set to join Olympique de Marseille in the coming days, according to reports from L’Equipe and Foot Mercato. The Ligue 1 side have reportedly found an agreement with the London-based Premier League club over a loan deal with a €15m obligation to buy for the transfer of the Denmark international. Marseille were in the market for an experienced midfielder and seemed to have acted swiftly to secure the signing of the Tottenham midfielder who fell out of favor with Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou.
Foot Mercato reports that Hojbjerg was keen on moving abroad after spells at Southampton and Tottenham. The 85-time Denmark international joined Tottenham in 2020 and was under contract with the Spurs until 2025. The outlet reports that Hojbjerg played with Marseille Sporting advisor Medhi Benatia during their time together at Bayern Munich.
Marseille head coach Roberto De Zerbi greenlit the move. Hojbjerg is set to sign a four-year contract with Marseille, which is set to welcome another Premier League player after Mason Greenwood (22). Les Phocéens are also pushing to sign Wolves striker Hwang Hee-chan (28) and Arsenal centre-forward Eddie Nketiah (25).
