Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele admits turning to Manchester United ace Paul Pogba after problems with Jose Mourinho last season.

Mourinho brought Pogba back to Manchester United in 2016, and in similar fashion to Ndombele, had a turbulent relationship before the Portuguese was sacked two seasons later.

"We spoke, we spoke about that but really quickly," Ndombele told Football.london.

"It wasn't like he gave me any advice because our situations were completely different.

"It's true he worked with Mourinho but my own experiences weren't the same and each relationship has its own characteristics."

This campaign his fortunes have turned around. Ndombele has started all but three of Spurs' 23 league games so far, one of which he missed through injury.

The Frenchman also admitted that he has no issues with Mourinho's brusque style of man-management.

"If you know Jose Mourinho then you understand how he behaves," he said.

"I wouldn't call it confrontation, but he's just got a certain way of sending his messages and it actually all depends on how you receive those messages he sends."
