Tanguy Ndombele looks lost
Ligue 1 side Rennes are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele on loan, and he ‘could be seduced’ by a move back to France.
New Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has made a fair few changes to his squad during his time at the club. Indeed, over the summer he’s signed Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, Manor Solomon, James Maddison, Alejo Veliz and Ashley Phillips.
He was also the unfortunate Spurs manager to finally see Harry Kane depart the club, with Harry Winks also being sold during the window.
More moves are being mooted, and they could be coming in both directions. It’s reported that Tottenham would be willing to sell record signing Ndombele for as little as £12.8million, which would see them take a huge loss.
There’s a chance he moves on this summer, but it may just be on loan initially. Le10Sport reports table-topping Ligue 1 side Rennes are interested in him, driven by manager Bruno Genesio.
The current Rennes boss managed Ndombele when he was at Lyon, the side Tottenham bought him from, and it’s said he knows the player ‘perfectly’.
The report states it is ‘not impossible’ for the Ligue 1 side to look for a loan move for the midfielder. It’s also suggested Ndombele ‘could be seduced’ by a return to France.
That he’s already returned once on loan from Tottenham, and now has the opportunity to play under his former manager, who he was clearly quite successful under in the buildup to his big Spurs move, suggests that may be true.
Tottenham are willing to sell, but it’s unclear if they’d sanction a loan move. The report states the north London outfit would like to ‘limit the damage’ a sale would create, meaning they’d like to lose as little money as possible on a man they paid between £50-60million for.
With that being said, if Rennes get him on loan and he does well, there’s more chance of them, or another side, paying a decent sum for him than there is somebody coming in with a good offer after he’s sat on the bench for a while.
