Jurgen Klinsmann reiterates interest in Tottenham manager job

According to the Daily Mail, former Tottenham Hotspur striker and club icon Jurgen Klinsmann has reiterated his interest in becoming the next manager of the team.

The 56-year-old had a stint at Tottenham as a player in the 1994/95 season before he had another short spell in 1998. During his time with the club, Klinsmann had an impressive return of 33 goals from 59 games, establishing himself as a firm fan favourite.

Post his retirement in 2004, Klinsmann had managerial stints with the German national team, which was followed by spells with Bayern Munich and the United States Men’s National Team. The former striker was last in charge of Hertha BSC in Bundesliga but lasted just 10 games in the 2019/20 campaign.

However, even as Spurs’ managerial search unravels with Gennaro Gattuso’s pursuit also coming to an end, Klinsmann has thrown his hat into the ring to become the next boss of his former club. (h/t Daily Mail)

“I called him (Levy) after Jose Mourinho went and I said “what’s the case now?” And he said to me ‘I’ve got so much to do right now, I’ve got things to sort out but let’s talk a little later on’. “And then I saw all the names walking in, talking, walking out and the same still today. Spurs is in my heart, absolutely I would consider that (taking the job) if he wants to, but you cannot force him.”

Klinsmann is a reputed figure among the Tottenham fans. But the ex-USMNT boss is not what the club needs as the next manager. His last job with Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga did not end well. But with Spurs fast running out of candidates, who knows if Daniel Levy decides to turn to the ex-striker.
