Ousmane Dembele’s future continues to be a major topic of discussion as the Barcelona forward inches close towards becoming a free agent with each passing day.

The 24-year-old’s current contract with the Blaugrana runs out at the end of the season and despite the club’s best efforts, an agreement over a new deal has not been reached.

Talks between Barca and Dembele’s representatives continue, but the Frenchman is gathering plenty of interest from clubs across Europe, particularly in the Premier League, where Manchester United have been long-term admirers of the forward.

In addition, Newcastle United have expressed strong interest in signing the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner and are ready to hand him a massive contract as well. However, their precarious position in the Premier League table complicates matters.

Now, Mundo Deportivo is reporting that another team from England, Tottenham Hotspur, have entered the race to sign Dembele from Barcelona. The north London giants have recently appointed Antonio Conte as the manager and are ready to back him in the market to help build a team capable of challenging the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool.

The Italian tactician utilises a 3-4-3 formation with Lucas Moura on the right flank in the attacking trident. And, they are seeking an upgrade in the position with Dembele emerging as a possible option for the Lilywhites.

The report states that Spurs’ sporting director, Fabio Paratici, is an admirer of the 24-year-old and had tried to sign him at Juventus in the past. Now, he wants Dembele at Tottenham as they prepare an approach for the French forward.

While there have been indications that the former Borussia Dortmund ace wants to continue at Barcelona, his agent, Moussa Sissoko, is pushing him to join a different club where he would stand to get a bigger deal.

Hence, he is delaying contract talks till January 1, when Dembele will be eligible to formally hold talks over a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs. Barcelona have, thus, given the attacker a deadline of until mid-December to come to a decision on his future.
