According to L’Équipe, Jonathan David (24) has rejected the chance to leave Lille this summer and join Roma. The Canadian international has several options available to him surrounding his future with just one year left on his contract at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.
Les Dogues would be willing to offer the 24-year-old another contract but the former Gent striker sees his future away from Northern France. Roma showed a concrete interest in David by approaching the player and making a contract offer but the striker wasn’t interested in the prospect of a move to the Italian capital.
As they search the market for a striker, Tottenham Hotspur are showing an interest in a potential move for the Lille forward, L’Équipe reports. The Premier League outfit are not the only club interested in a move for David. Atlético Madrid have also been interested in the Canadian but are now targeting a move for Manchester City’s Julián Álvarez. If no move materialises for the Lille forward this summer, David will leave on a free transfer with the Ligue 1 club unwilling to sell without a suitable replacement.
