Tottenham interested in in-form Ligue 1 star but face competition from rivals

Tottenham interested in Lyon forward Memphis Depay

Tottenham are interested in signing Lyon forward Memphis Depay, according to Calciomercato (h/t Football.london).

The 25-year-old has been in fine form for the Ligue 1 giants and has 12 goals in all competitions for them this season. Depay is also a regular for the national side and has 8 goals in all competitions for the Dutch side too.

The 25-year-old has Premier League experience, thanks to his time at Manchester United, however, he struggled at the club and was sold to Lyon after a brief loan spell. Depay has reinvigorated his career in Lyon and scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists in his first season after joining permanently.

Tottenham face competition for Depay

Liverpool are also interested in the Dutch attacker and it will be interesting to see how things develop for Depay (h/t Football.london).

The 25-year-old has been great for Lyon but they currently lie 11th in Ligue 1. Tottenham aren’t faring any better as we have struggled for consistency this season, and need to string a run of victories together.

We don’t have cover for Harry Kane either as Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen left in the summer. Depay would provide a lot of cover and competition for our attacking players.
