Tottenham have been long on the prowl for another striker and are now in talks with Benfica over a loan deal for striker Carlos Vinícius.
That’s according to Sky Sports, who claim Spurs have been offered the option-to-buy the 25-year-old Brazilian at the end of the season for £36m.
Vinícius went off to the tune of 24 goals and 13 assists last season following his £15m move from Napoli, prompting the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan, and a plethora of other big European clubs to take serious notice.
Earlier in the week, Tottenham manager José Mourinho exuded plenty of confidence that Spurs would get a deal done for the striker before the 5 October deadline.
“I am optimistic, but more than that the feeling that I like is that we are trying everything to do it,” he said.
Curiously, Vinícius never played a single game for Napoli after his £3.6m arrival from second-tier Portuguese side Real SC in 2018.
He did not particularly impress in 16 games with Monaco before destroying Liga NOS with Rio Ave with 14 goals in 20 games in the second half of the 2018-19 campaign, prompting his move to Benfica.
