The Mirror has mentioned in a recent report that Dutch winger Steven Bergwijn wants to exit Tottenham Hotspur as his struggles do not seem to end. It is understood that Everton are showing keen interest but the Nederlands international has conveyed he would want to leave for Ajax who are also a Champions League contender next season.

Bergwijn’s Struggling Campaign For Tottenham Hotspur Last Season

Bergwijn has struggled to attain a starting position in the North London club even after producing a few influential displays in the attacking end of the field. Despite the lack of game-time he has managed to score four goals and produce one assist over 29 appearances, featuring for the full 90 mins in only two games.

Should He Move To Everton?

Bergwijn can make some dangerous runs down the flanks. He excels at creating space for himself in front of the goal and can strike the ball with power. He can display some impressive finishing if given enough chances inside the penalty box. The Nederlands international can also engineer some meaningful opportunities for his teammates with his crossing abilities.

The Dutch speedster is primarily a left-winger but remains versatile to play anywhere over the frontline which makes him a brilliant addition to any squad. He has been in dire need of first-team football which is the main cause of his dismay.

If offered regular game time, Bergwijn would remain happy in staying at North London but the Italian tactician can already rely on Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Moura in the frontline, and with the addition of Richarlison, it poses a great threat to his position at the club. The Toffees do not offer European cup competition and that makes it doubtful for him to leave for Goodison Park; hence he has conveyed that he would like to move back to his country and play for Ajax as they offer Champions League football.
