Tottenham are reportedly struggling to find a sponsor that will pay them €230m for the naming rights to their new stadium.

It’s the latest in a long line of embarrassments for the north London club when it comes to their renovated ground.

Spiralling construction costs and a hugely delayed opening date have contributed to Mauricio Pochettino’s men failing to sign new players in the transfer market and forced them to play home games at Wembley for the foreseeable future.

And the Telegraph have quoted industry insiders who claim that chairman Daniel Levy is now failing to find a sponsor for their redeveloped White Hart Lane.

Levy wants €230m to be paid over the next decade for the naming rights, however companies are baulking at such a fee as they are now favouring “more sophisticated” branding opportunities.

Carsten Thode, chief strategy officer at sports marketing agency Synergy told the Telegraph: “There is a mismatch between what the market thinks it is worth and what Daniel Levy wants for it.

“Stadium naming rights are very broad brush and the market is becoming sophisticated.”
