In a recent report, Football.London has mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele could move to Napoli as Spurs remain in preliminary talks with the Italian side. It is understood that a loan deal could be agreed upon with an option to buy, should the French midfielder have a successful loan spell with the Italian outfit.

Ndombele’s Loan Spell At Lyon Last Season

Ndombele moved to Olympique Lyon on a short-term loan in the January transfer window after falling down the pecking order under Conte. He managed to produce two assists after only appearing in 11 matches for the French outfit last season.

The Longjumeau-born talent has tried to get back in form by making the most out of his appearances as he averaged 0.5 shots, 0.8 key passes, 1.5 dribbles and 2.3 tackles per game in Ligue 1. However, he has been impressive with his ball distribution after completing 89.2% of his attempted passes in the French top flight (stats via whoscored).

Good Move From The Tottenham Hotspur Boss?

Tottenham boss Conte has made it clear that the ace midfielder is not needed in this campaign as he kept him sidelined in the pre-season competition and the friendlies before the start of the Premier League. The France international had been deemed as a surplus to their requirement and the Lilywhites were looking to offload him with several other players who had failed to secure their position during the overhaul.

A loan move to Napoli is the best possible scenario for Ndombele as he could find appropriate game time and also look to rejuvenate his career. It would be beneficial for Tottenham if they included an option to buy him, so should he perform well in Serie A, the Italian outfit could permanently sign him.

The Italian tactician is on the run for the domestic title and is ready to make the necessary changes to the squad even if experienced players need to move away from North London. This makes it prevalent that Spurs will prove to be an imminent threat to Liverpool and Manchester City as they look to compete in the English first division.
