Football might be off the list for Tottenham and the Premier League. However, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has landed an award during this time.

The coronavirus pandemic has shut off all football for a while with no confirmation of when the Premier League will be back.

TheStadiumBusiness Awards recognises a range of achievements from venues that includes technology, fan experience, innovation, events and sustainability (h/t Tottenham Hotspur).

This is the 11th edition of the awards and normally, they are announced in a huge ceremony. However, the current conditions have prevented that and our home has been adjudged as the Venue of the Year.

There were several nominations that were whittled down to a shortlist. Our competitors included Lord’s Cricket Ground, the Optus Stadium, Allianz Field, Chase Center, Coca-Cola Arena and the Golden 1 Center.

Our stadium has held many events since it opened, from concerts to NFL games, apart from the football matches.

Stadium turned into a Covid-19 battle zone

Tottenham have handed over the stadium to the NHS as the UK battles Covid-19. The car basement park is being utilised as a drive-through Covid-19 testing region while the ‘pitch pocket’ is being used as a food distribution hub.

This was a great step to help curb the rise in coronavirus cases, but our stars have been doing their own thing too.

Our players are also under quarantine, however, all of them have been training individually until recently.

The players have started taking up joint sessions via video conferencing and hopefully, the Covid-19 virus can be controlled quickly.
