“He has been linked with Manchester United and Tottenham but the situation is complicated as the player is happy in Milan.

“At this stage, it will take a really huge bid for any club to sign him.”

Dumfries’ Impressive Form In Italian Football

Dumfries is having a good season at San Siro and has also caught the eye for the Netherlands in the 2022 FIFA World Cup which is being held in Qatar right now. The 26-year-old has found the back of the net five times and earned six assists in 29 matches for his club and country during this campaign across all fronts.

The Netherlands international has caught the eye at times by averaging 0.7 tackles, 1.0 clearances, 1.3 shots and 1.1 key passes per game in Serie A. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball from the back, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 78.3% in league football (stats via whoscored).

Is Dumfries The Right Fit For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Antonio Conte?

Dumfries can get stuck in with some crunching tackles and can clear the danger when needed. He can strike the ball with power and accuracy from long range and has got the vision to create some decent chances in the final third. Dumfries mainly operates as a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as a right-back if asked to do so.

At the moment, the Dutch sensation is playing at a high level and would undoubtedly add more quality to Tottenham Hotspur‘s squad. He is good enough to earn a regular starting spot on the right side of Antonio Conte‘s midfield.

Dumfries could help Spurs compete for some major trophies in the coming seasons. Plus, he would serve as an upgrade over Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty as they have both struggled to impress at the North London club this season.

With all things considered, Dumfries would be a good fit for Spurs next year as he has what it takes to help them earn a top-four finish in the Premier League. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in English football.
