In a recent report, Corriere Bergamo mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur remain eager to land Atalanta playmaker Ruslan Malinovskyi. It has been mentioned that Spurs are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Ukrainian talent.

Malinovskyi’s Important Role In Atalanta’s Squad This Season

Malinovskyi has enjoyed a decent campaign in Italian football as he has been responsible for putting in a few eye-catching displays for Atalanta on the attacking end of the pitch. The Zhytomyr-born sensation has found the back of the net once and earned a couple of assists in 14 appearances for the Italian club this season in all competitions.

The 51-time Ukraine international has seen most of his game time come as a substitute which explains why he is averaging 1.4 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even taken care of the ball well when distributing possession in the opponent’s half based on his pass success rate of 79.5% in the Italian top-flight (stats via whoscored).

Malinovskyi is under contract at Atalanta until the end of this campaign. Hence, Spurs might have a good chance of landing him on the cheap when the transfer window commences at the start of next year.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Antonio Conte Snap Malinovskyi Up This January?

Malinovskyi is proficient at finding space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal and can contribute by scoring a few goals in the final third. He can create some inviting chances for his teammates and is usually clever with his movements in and around the opposition penalty box.

The experienced Ukraine international needs to ensure regular playing minutes if he wants to make the most out of the remainder of his playing career. However, he is unlikely to get his wish at Tottenham where he would only be a sporadic presence in Antonio Conte.

As far as Spurs are concerned, they can definitely use someone with Malinovskyi’s skillset to make an impact off the bench. However, he is not good enough to challenge Dejan Kulusevski and Heung-min Son for a regular starting spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

At 29, the Ukraine sensation is currently playing in his prime and could be a decent signing for the North London club. He has what it takes to help them compete in the domestic cup competitions, so Conte should consider snapping him up during the January transfer window.
