In a recent report from Football.London, it was mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur may need to act fast if they wish to sign Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea in the January transfer window. It is known that the Lilywhites tried to make a last-minute offer for the winger last summer in an attempt to snap him up but the deal eventually collapsed.

With growing concerns over the Morroccan’s future, AC Milan are emerging as the favourites this time around but this is surely an alert for Spurs that they’ll need to make a move before the Rossoneri acquire him.

Ziyech’s Numbers With Chelsea This Season

Ziyech has had a frustrating start at Stamford Bridge this season as he has struggled with playtime with the West London club over the past few months. He has only made nine appearances for Chelsea this season but has failed to score or create a goal for them so far.

The Moroccan sensation has mostly come off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 1.4 tackles, 0.8 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in the Premier League. However, he has been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 76.7% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Antonio Conte Make Contact With The Wing Wizard?

Ziyech remains comfortable with the ball as he can dribble past defenders with ease and he has the vision to create some decent chances from the wide areas. The Morrocco international can strike the ball with power and accuracy from outside the box if that he’s confident on the pitch.

The 29-year-old is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a right-winger or as a box-to-box midfielder if required. The Dronten-born talent’s versatility could be the last piece of Conte’s puzzle for a title run this season. He could certainly add more quality and bring more creativity into Conte’s attacking department.

However, Ziyech’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer of 2025. Hence, Chelsea are in no rush to sell the Moroccan wing wizard unless they receive a lucrative offer for the player during the January transfer period or at the end of this season. Tottenham could very well make that happen and also bear his wages currently said to be £5.2 million per year, which puts them at an advantage compared to Milan so Conte should definitely make a bid and bring him to North London.
