Tottenham Hotspur have made a formal bid to sign Porto winger Luis Diaz this month, Sky Sports reports.
The Colombian has been in fine form for Porto this term, bagging 16 goals and six assists from 26 games.
His progress has seen him linked with several Premier League clubs, but Spurs have made an official move.
The north London outfit have proposed to offer €45 million up front with a further €10m in the form of add-ons.
However, Porto want around €60m for the 25-year-old. With a slight difference, a winter deal could be on the cards.
Spurs boss Antonio Conte has repeatedly stated that he does not have a team to compete for the league title.
He has highlighted an evident weakness in attack. It is justifiable as there has been an overdependence on two players.
Heung-min Son and Harry Kane have been pivotal in recent years, and the trend has been very much the same this time around.
Diaz’s goal contributions from the left wing would add a different dimension to the attack and aid their top-four bid.
With no European football, they can solely concentrate on Champions League qualification.
Liverpool and Manchester United recently had scouts in attendance to watch Diaz in action against Famalicao.
However, neither seem desperate for attacking reinforcements this month. The onus remains on a summer rebuild.
It seems the perfect time for Spurs to capitalise and land Diaz without any competition in the transfer market.
