According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited by Leicester Mercury, Tottenham are interested in Domenico Berardi. The Sassuolo attacker has raised a lot of eyebrows with his performances in the ongoing European Championship. As a result, he has emerged as a transfer target for Spurs, who are involved in a three-way battle with Leicester City and Liverpool for his services.

Domenico Berardi: Player Profile

A native of Cariati, Domenico Berardi is one of the long-serving players at Sassuolo. Despite joining Juventus in 2013, the winger has notched up almost 300 competitive appearances for the club, scoring 105 goals while chipping in with 67 assists.

A right-winger by trade, Berardi is an explosive attacker who loves to attack the channels. He is quite proficient with the ball at his feet and is particularly skilled in one-on-one situations. The winger showcased such qualities in the recent win over Switzerland, beating two defenders out wide to produce an assist for Manuel Locatelli’s opener.

In addition to his skill out wide, Berardi is versatile enough to operate as a false nine. He has done so a few times for Sassuolo and is quite good at it, thanks to his excellent productivity. Not to mention, the Italian international has garnered a vast amount of experience at the highest level of football with 238 appearances in Serie A as well as 13 caps for the Azzurri.

Why Berardi Can Be An Ideal Signing For Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements following a largely disappointing 2020/21 campaign. The club is preparing for a future without Harry Kane, but while the new striker could be on the agenda, the addition of a proper right-winger might also be imperative if they are to polish their attacking unit.

Domenico Berardi fits the bill perfectly due to his fidgety nature in the final third. The Italian international likes to attack the channels while his performances with Italy suggests that he is quite used to the pacy nature of football.

Berardi’s ability to operate as a false nine bodes well for Tottenham too, especially if Kane does indeed end up leaving the club in the summer. The 26-year-old can offer the quality that is missing on the right flank, potentially creating a solid attacking partnership alongside Son Heung-Min.

He also has a lot of experience at the highest level of football, which should make it easier for him to settle into life in England – making him a potential bargain for the Lilywhites this summer.
