Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Brentford winger, Said Benrahma.

The Algerian international was one of the stars of Brentford’s 2019-20 Championship campaign, but couldn’t help them across the final hurdle as they lost the play-off final to Fulham.

As per Mirror Football, the north London outfit are one of several clubs interested in signing the 24-year-old.

The likes of Aston Villa and Leeds United have also been linked with a move for him. Benrahma has formed a deadly attacking partnership with Ollie Watkins and Bryan Mbeumo for Brentford, but he could be on the move.

The 24-year old joined the club from Nice for a fee of £2.7 million in 2018, and has gone on to make 91 appearances for the club, scoring 28 goals and making 27 assists. 17 of those goals came in the 2019-20 season for Brentford.

Said Benrahma to Tottenham Hotspur – A good option?

Spurs manager Jose Mourinho has said that the club won’t be spending big this summer. The north London outfit, who finished 6th in the 2019-20 Premier League season, will hope to challenge for a top 4 spot next season, considering the quality of players they have in their roster.

Mourinho manager needs to add a few quality players to his side, however, as the teams above Tottenham have all been linked with quality players and are expected to strengthen their team.

Said Benrahma is an interesting option for Spurs. The winger is an exciting player, who plays off the left, cutting into central areas with his favoured right foot.

The Algerian has a lot of flair, and likes to take on defenders with his dribbling and pace, as well as his acceleration. He has the confidence to take on defenders and beat them with his speed and close control.

But, do Spurs really need another left winger? They already have Son Heung-min – who has quickly emerged as a favourite of Mourinho, as well as January signing Steven Bergwijn.

With two natural left wingers already in the squad, going after Benrahma does not make much sense. The Algerian can play on the opposite side as well, but he’s at his best when he cuts in from the left.

Benrahma is also not the most tenacious of wingers, which could work against him at Spurs. Spurs should sign a backup striker for Harry Kane rather than another winger, as there are currently no natural No. 9s in the Spurs squad after Kane.

Considering they don’t have a big budget, Tottenham will have to be smart with the signings in the transfer window.
