Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Bournemouth defender Illia Zabarnyi, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
They are willing to pay as much as €70 million to secure Zabarnyi, who has become highly sought-after across Europe due to his performances since moving to Bournemouth from Dynamo Kyiv in January 2023.
He quickly established himself as a first-team regular at the Vitality Stadium, making 78 Premier League appearances over the next two and a half seasons and playing a pivotal role alongside Dean Huijsen, who recently secured a big-money transfer to La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Spurs struggled with several injury casualties on the defensive front last season and are keen to bolster their options at the back ahead of the new season, especially given the uncertain future of Cristian Romero.
Thomas Frank’s side will be aiming to capitalise on their recent Europa League success and build a squad capable of competing on several fronts.
Tottenham will face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain in their pursuit of Zabarnyi, with the European champions having already agreed personal terms with the player.
Bournemouth would ideally like to keep Zabarnyi but are increasingly resigned to losing a second centre-back this summer.
The Cherries are expected to command a fee in the region of €70 million, and Tottenham’s interest in Zabarnyi could force PSG to up their offer.
Zabarnyi’s contract runs for another four years until 2029, meaning that Bournemouth are in no rush to sell and can afford to hold out till their demands are met.
