Tottenham Hotspur need to reinforce their unit as they failed to secure a Champions League berth for next season. According to Give Me Sport, the Premier League club are interested in signing Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley in the summer.

After representing a couple of clubs, Matt O’Riley arrived at Celtic in the winter of 2022. His latest switch turned out to be beneficial for both parties. The player reached new heights in his professional career while enhancing the club’s overall performance on the field.

The Danish midfielder has been instrumental in the Scottish club’s Championship victory. He has netted 18 goals and as many assists in 47 games this season. He is averaging 2.6 shots, 2.6 key passes, and 1 dribble per game (stats via whoscored).

O’Riley is known for his creative work in the final third. He is an excellent dribbler and a visionary passer. He can break defensive lines with his through balls and key passes. The player is also good at taking set pieces, making him a valuable pick.

Will Tottenham Hotspur make a move for Matt O’Riley?

Despite having James Maddison in their ranks, Tottenham Hotspur want to acquire the services of Matt O’Riley. The club believe that the addition of the latter will add depth and quality to their squad. The youngster can also be a long-term investment.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has strong ties with Celtic, which he could use to speed up the process. However, the Premier League club will have to pay a premium fee to get O’Riley’s signature. On the other hand, West Ham United are also keeping tabs on the player.
