Tottenham Hotspur “ideally” want to sign Southampton winger Tyler Dibling in the January transfer window, according to a report from The Telegraph.
Spurs are badly struggling in the Premier League at the moment, and Ange Postecoglou is looking to sign at least one player this month.
According to a report from The Telegraph, Spurs will try their best this week to accelerate plans to bring some new faces; if not now, then definitely next summer.
Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Dibling this month, and they have held talks already. Lille midfielder Angel Gomes is also being targeted.
Spurs have been looking at defenders and forwards this month, but they have found it extremely challenging.
It would be a massive coup for the North London club if they could reach an agreement for Dibling. Ideally, they want him now, but the club are also discussing trying to get an agreement in place for the Southampton youngster to move at the end of the season.
The Guardian previously reported that any potential suitor will have to pay a handsome fee of around £55 million for his signature.
Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg said earlier this month that Spurs remain in “very concrete talks” with the player’s management, but they are likely to face a lot of competition to sign Dibling, especially from RB Leipzig.
The Bundesliga club “will continue to do everything possible” to sign the 18-year-old, who has been enjoying a brilliant season despite Southampton’s struggles. He has been hailed as “exceptional” by pundits, and Spurs must try to reach an agreement for him.
Signing a striker could be important as well, and they are keen to land Evan Ferguson, who will be allowed to leave Brighton. There’s a lot of competition for his signature and Spurs might lose out.
