In a recent print edition, La Repubblica has mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are facing fierce competition for Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu this summer. It is understood that Spurs will have to rival Arsenal and other Italian clubs in the race to secure the signature of the Turkish midfield ace (transcripted and translated by Sport Witness).

Kokcu’s Excellent Rise In Dutch Football This Season

The 20-year-old is having a solid season at the Feyenoord Stadium as he has produced a series of dominant performances at the heart of Dick Advocaat’s midfield. Kokcu has been involved in 25 matches for the Dutch outfit this term, netting three goals and grabbing two assists in multiple competitions.

The Haarlem-born sensation has done well to average 1.1 tackles, 2.2 shots, 1.5 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in the Dutch Eredivisie this season. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball after making 83.8% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

The way Kokcu has been playing this season, it is no surprise that a top club like Tottenham are looking to bring him to the English capital during the summer transfer window. At 20, the Turkish midfielder has the potential to mature into a world-class player in his position someday.

Tottenham To Rival Other Top Clubs For Kokcu: Wise Move For Spurs?

Kokcu is a moderately paced midfielder who is not shy of working his socks off for the benefit of his team. He has a wide range of passes in his locker and can make some clever runs with the ball towards the opposition penalty box. The Turkish talent has also scored and created his fair share of goals from midfield. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level but might need time to settle into life in English football.

Hence, Spurs would be wise to orchestrate a move to recruit Kokcu in this off-season as he will bolster their squad depth for the coming seasons. Furthermore, the North London outfit are in dire need to add some quality to their team this summer after a disappointing season both in domestic competitions and in Europe.

Kokcu is good enough to compete with the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Tanguy Ndombele, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Harry Winks for a regular place in Tottenham’s first-team in the upcoming campaign. Hence, the North London giants should consider about bringing him to England during this summer transfer window.
