Tottenham Hotspur face a battle to sign Spanish winger Adama Traore

According to 90min (h/t Bellingham Herald), Tottenham Hotspur are set to face a battle in their attempt to sign talented Spanish winger Adama Traore from Wolverhampton Wanderers in January.

Tottenham’s interest in Adama has been there for quite some time now. The Spaniard was linked with the club last summer as well before he chose to join Barcelona for six months on loan.

Adama did return to Wolves back in the summer after the Spanish club chose not to make the move permanent and the Spaniard has featured quite a bit for the underperforming club this campaign.

Traore has a contract with the Wolves expiring in 2023 (Transfermarkt) and it does not look like he will renew his contract with them. This means that the club could end up losing the Spaniard for free come the summer.

Thus, Wolves could choose to sell Adama in January for a bargain price with a number of clubs interested in the Spaniard. Tottenham may be looking to take advantage of this and try and sign the player for a cheap price.

Napoli, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Leeds United are all said to be interested in Adama and Tottenham will have to battle it out with all these clubs if they are serious about signing the Spaniard.

It’s easy to see why Conte would like to sign Adama Traore. The Italian tactician is likely to deploy Adama as a right wing-back and it is one of the positions in his team that the Conte is yet to figure out.

Adama is a very limited player in terms of his abilities, but he is one of the best in the world when it comes to maximizing his strengths. This could particularly be useful for Tottenham in the full-back positions.

Let’s see if Tottenham indeed pull off this Adama deal and he could turn out to be a great utility player for the Lilywhites.
