Tottenham Hotspur’s focus is now on the summer transfer window after securing a place in the Champions League.

Antonio Conte is the mastermind behind it as he steered Spurs from a precarious position to a top-four finish.

However, there is uncertainty looming over the Italian’s future after he refused to commit himself to the North Londoners in the longer run.

Reports emerged recently that Spurs’ owners are ready to invest around £150 million with a view to keep hold of Conte and back him in the transfer market – the aspect he always demanded at his previous clubs.

Now, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his Youtube Channel, reports that the Lily Whites are confident of Conte’s continuity for the next season and are soon expected to sit down with the Italian manager and sort out the plans for the summer.

More optimism about Harry Kane’s new deal

Romano also adds that Conte’s continuity would persuade Harry Kane to pen a new deal as the English striker is more excited to work with the former Inter Milan boss and vice versa.

Kane was notorious for trying to force out a move to Manchester City last summer but to no avail in the end – which saw him incur the wrath of the fans.

While he suffered a dip in his performances at the start of the 2021/22 season, Kane returned to his best with the help of Conte, as he concluded the campaign with 17 goals and nine assists.

The Three Lions international’s contract expires in 2024, but there is an optimism that he could extend beyond that.

Summer signings: Perisic, Fraser Forster and more

Speaking on his Youtube channel, Romano has given his insight into what Spurs are looking to do in the summer transfer window as Conte eyes reinforcements in several positions.

Spurs are close to making Cristian Romero’s deal permanent following his scintillating campaign in the Premier League. January signing Dejan Kulusevski will also follow suit by staying with Spurs next season.

The North Londoners are said to be on the verge of signing Fraser Forster as a backup goalkeeper to Hugo Lloris, with Pierluigi Gollini set to return to his parent club Atalanta.

Ivan Perisic is on the top of the wishlist of Conte, as the Croatian wing-back’s contract at Inter Milan expires next month.

Inter are planning to extend the 33-year-old’s contract following an impressive season, as he helped Simone Inzaghi’s team finish second in Serie A and lift the Coppa Italia.

The Nerazzurri have tabled an improved offer of around €5m per season but are awaiting the final decision from the Croatian star.

Conte wants a reunion with Perisic – with whom he won the Scudetto in the 2020/21 season – but fellow Premier League rivals Chelsea are also in the race.

Besides, Conte wants to sign a new striker – who can provide cover for Kane – and a centre-back.

As far as the exit list is concerned, Sergio Reguilon could be on the move, with Europe’s top clubs keeping tabs on him.
