According to Express, Tottenham Hotspur have expressed interest in Pervis Estupiñán. The right-back is one of several Watford stars expected to leave the club following their relegation from the Premier League this past season. Spurs are one of many clubs, including Barcelona and Chelsea, who are already keen on securing the services of Estupinan this summer.

Pervis Estupiñán: A bright spell at Osasuna

Estupiñán has been a member of the Watford side since 2017. However, due to so much competition, the youngster has had to endure loan spells at Udinese and Mallorca over the past couple of seasons. Right now, he is on loan at CA Osasuna, which is set to expire in the summer of 2021.

Watford does, however, have the option to end the loan this summer and it won’t come as a surprise either given Estupiñán’s performances in La Liga this term. Indeed, he has emerged as a key component in Osasuna’s backline, notably registering six assists in 36 league matches. His contributions on the right flank have helped Los Rojillos achieve a respectable mid-table finish in La Liga, thus catching the attention of top clubs across Europe.

What can he offer to the table?

Estupiñán is primarily known for his pace and stamina. The Ecuadorian international can relentlessly move up and down the pitch, providing both offensive and defensive support to his team. As mentioned earlier, the defender mustered six assists in the recently concluded La Liga campaign.

However, Estupiñán’s contributions weren’t only restricted to creativity as the 22-year-old also averaged 1.6 successful dribbles per game. He also had got dispossessed less than once per game, which is indicative of the defender’s impressive ball-carrying abilities.

Defensively, the Watford starlet has shown remarkable tenacity, attempting 3.3 tackles per game with a success rate of almost 70%. Besides, his pace has allowed him to cut off passing lanes and his ability to read the game further helps his cause. As a result, Estupiñán has made the most number of interceptions than any other Osasuna player this season.

Is Estupiñán an ideal option for Spurs?

Estupiñán’s style of play can be compared with Bayern Munich sensation Alphonso Davies. A hard-working individual, who can cause a scare with his electric pace and gifted technical qualities, thus making him a tailor-made fit for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Lilywhites could have a massive advantage in the pursuit of Estupiñán as they can offer him proper game-time due to the fact that they do not have viable options at right-back.

Kyle Walker-Peters is likely to remain at Southampton after an impressive loan spell while Serge Aurier just hasn’t been able to show enough consistency and quality to establish himself as a trusted option for Mourinho. That is where Estupiñán comes into the fray.

The young Ecuadorian has already shown that he is ready and able to perform at the highest level of football, and Spurs should definitely pounce on the opportunity to sign him up this summer.
