Tottenham Hotspur duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min nominated for Fans’ Footballer of the Year award

Tottenham Hotspur duo of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have been nominated for Reach’s Fans’ Footballer of the Year Award, according to Football.London.

Antonio Conte’s side have had a good year so far, beating rivals Arsenal to finish fourth on the table on the last day of last season. The new season has been good, with the club sitting fourth on the table and in the Round of 16 of the Champions League.

While the majority of the players have played their part, Kane and Son stood out among all of them. It is hardly surprising to see the duo being nominated.

Kane could have had a better last season in front of goal by his extremely high standards, with the 29-year-old scoring 27 in 50 appearances in all competitions. However, this season he has been terrific with the England captain netting 13 in 22 games in all competitions.

Son, meanwhile won the Premier League golden boot last season along with Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah. The 30-year-old scored 23 goals in 35 league games for Spurs last season.

This season, however, the South Korean has struggled in front of goal. The forward has only scored five goals in 19 games in all competitions, with only three in the league so far (and all of them came in a substitute appearance against Leicester City).

Nevertheless, the duo have been phenomenal for us this season, as they have been over countless before. Both players are currently in Qatar for the World Cup and are expected to play an important role during the second half of the season.

Salah won the award last year, but it will be a surprise if he wins again this year too. It’s not the biggest award in Premier League football but it is still an acknowledgement by some of the best journalists.

Kane and Son would want to be in the conversation for the big ones – the PFA player of the player, Football Writers’ Association player of the year, and the Golden Boot and Playmaker awards.

If it happens, it would automatically mean Antonio Conte’s men had a season to remember as when Son and Kane are on song, the Lilywhites are virtually unstoppbale.
