Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a big injury blow ahead of their upcoming Premier League fixture.

What’s the latest?

In a recent statement posted on the Tottenham website, it was revealed that, despite Antonio Conte previously stating that his expectation was for Giovani Lo Celso to make a return to first-team football following Spurs’ 2-0 win over Brentford on Thursday, the central midfielder has once again been ruled out of action for the visit of Norwich City on Saturday.

Conte will be gutted

Considering the fact that, speaking prior to the Brentford fixture, Conte claimed that Lo Celso is a “player [Spurs] need to try to exploit,” as well as stating his belief that the 25-year-old is a “good” talent who he wants “to work with,” the news that the Argentine will once again be unavailable for selection is sure to have left the 52-year-old gutted.

Indeed, since the midfielder’s £28.8m move to North London, he has proven an extremely useful player within Tottenham’s first-team squad, earning a seasonal SofaScore match rating of 6.78 over his 18 Premier League appearances in 2020/21 and averaging a SofaScore match rating of 6.79 over his seven league fixtures so far this season.

And, when taking into account just how important the central midfielders are within Conte’s famous 3-5-2 formation, should the Italian coach indeed turn out to be as keen as he appears to be from his comments concerning the £70k-per-week man, this year could well be the campaign in which Lo Celso finally goes on to finally fulfil his undoubted potential at Spurs.

However, with the Argentina international out of action once again this weekend – something that will undoubtedly come as a huge blow to the 52-year-old coach – Tottenham fans will have to wait a little bit longer to find out exactly how the 25-year-old is going to fit into Conte’s plans at Spurs.
