Morocco and Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur once again

Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a move for Morocco and Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat once again, according to La Repubblica via Viola News and Sport Witness (h/t Express).

Spurs are ‘ready’ to push for the 26-year-old after missing out on him in January 2022. During the recent winter window, the midfielder was keen on working under Antonio Conte. However, a deal did not materialise.

Amrabat was disappointed after not being able to move to North London, having rejected ‘other options’. However, Tottenham want to reignite their pursuit a year later after the Moroccan’s displays at the World Cup, playing every minute for the Atlas Lions.

Amrabat is ‘liked’ by the Spurs manager. The North London side believe the 26-year-old is currently the ‘best version’ of himself. Apart from having a good tournament in Qatar, the midfielder has also been consistent in Italy.

The Moroccan joined Fiorentina from Hellas Verona. Currently in his third season with the Viola, the former Dutch-born star has been a consistent part of the Serie A outfit’s starting lineup over the years.

Amrabat has mostly played in the number six role for the Italian club. The 26-year-old has developed his game over the years and become solid. In the current campaign, the midfielder has made 20 appearances for Fiorentina in all competitions.

Tottenham have a number of defensive midfielders in the squad. The North London side signed Yves Bisoouma in the recent transfer window. Spurs also have Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp in their ranks.

Rodrigo Bentancur is seemingly the only midfielder in our squad who has attacking instincts. Thus, the Lilywhites evidently need to add more depth to the engine room.

Amrabat is another robust and industrious player. However, the fanbase is crying out for someone who can create and score goals from the middle of the park. Thus, Tottenham should maybe focus on other targets to pursue in the upcoming window.
