In a recent report, The Telegraph revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are still in the running for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. It has been stated that Spurs are showing interest in recruiting the English centre-back but are facing competition from Liverpool in pursuit of him.

Guehi’s Impressive Form In English Football Last Season

Guehi had a great campaign at the English club as he continued to perform at a high level for them in the Premier League. He managed to help the Eagles secure the FA Cup last season. The 25-year-old scored three times and earned two assists in 44 matches for Crystal Palace in the previous campaign across multiple competitions.

The English talent was a solid presence when defending inside his half and did well to make 61 tackles, 55 blocks and 28 interceptions in the Premier League. He even distributed possession relatively well after making 83.5% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Selhurst Park will run out at the end of next season which could open the door for Tottenham to sign him on a cut-price deal this summer.

Will Guehi Be A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank?

Guehi is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is even proficient at playing his way out from the back.

The English sensation has got a lot of experience in the Premier League and is well-equipped to make an immediate impact at the North London club. However, standing at 1.82m, he is far from a dominant presence in the air.

Guehi would bring more bite and steel to Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank’s defence. He has what it takes to secure a regular starting spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

At 25, Guehi has his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent choice for Spurs to consider in this summer transfer period. He might even help Tottenham compete for a major trophy in the coming years.
