In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Tottenham Hotspur are open to moving in for Chelsea playmaker Conor Gallagher this summer. It has been claimed that Spurs would have to compete with West Ham United and Newcastle United in the race to sign the English talent later this year.

The 24-year-old has put in a run of impressive displays for the Blues in the Premier League during this campaign. Gallagher has found the back of the net on six occasions and picked up eight assists in 45 matches for Chelsea this season in all competitions.

The English sensation has been a decent performer in the opposition half and deserves credit for averaging 1.3 shots, 1.5 key passes and 0.9 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after completing 91% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).

The Epsom-born sensation’s current deal at the West London club will run out at the end of next season which could open the door for Spurs to recruit him on the cheap later this summer.

Is Gallagher A Good Fit For Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Angelos Postecoglu?

Gallagher can strike the ball with venom and accuracy from long range. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the opposition half and is an energetic runner with the ball in the final third. The Chelsea ace is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also play in the number ten position or function as a defensive midfielder if asked to do so.

Gallagher would add more quality to Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglu’s first XI. He is good enough to help Spurs compete across all fronts over the next few years. At 24, the best is yet to come from Gallagher, so the North London club should consider taking a chance on him if he is available on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.

The English talent already knows the Premier League well by now and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if Postecoglu can win the race for his services in the summer.
