In a recent report, The Evening Standard claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are open to a loan move for Manchester United ace Harry Maguire. It has been mentioned that Spurs are eyeing a move to land the English talent on loan during this summer transfer window.

Maguire’s Decent Run Of Form In English Football

Maguire has struggled to earn a regular starting spot at Old Trafford this season but has put in a few decent displays for Erik ten Hag’s side on the defensive end of the pitch. The Sheffield-born defender has made 31 appearances for Man United during this campaign in multiple competitions.

The 30-year-old has seen most of his game time come off the bench which could be why he is only averaging 0.5 tackles, 0.8 key passes and 2.6 clearances per game in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from the back after completing 85.4% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Theatre of Dreams will run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, Spurs won’t find it easy to arrange a permanent move for him in this off-season.

Is Maguire The Right Fit For Tottenham Hotspur?

Maguire can get stuck in with some crunching tackles and can spot the danger quickly to secure possession back for his team on the defensive third of the field. He can put his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.

Standing at 1.94m, the England international can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air.

Maguire could be a good signing for Spurs in the short term. He has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and would add more quality to Tottenham boss Angelos Postecoglou’s defence. At 30, the English defensive ace has still got plenty of football left in him.

Maguire could even help the North London club get back to competing for a top-four spot in the English top tier next season. All in all, he would be a good fit for Tottenham‘s style of play, so Postecoglou should try everything in his power to bring him on loan this summer.
