In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Tottenham Hotspur are on the hunt to land Atalanta striker Ademola Lookman. It has been mentioned that Spurs would have to rival Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Atletico Madrid in the race to land the Nigerian talent this summer.

Lookman’s Impressive Run Of Form In Serie A

Lookman enjoyed a decent run of form at the Italian club after he put in a string of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 27-year-old scored 20 times and picked up seven assists in 40 matches for Atalanta last season across various competitions.

The Nigerian talent did well to average 3.24 shots per 90 minutes in Serie A. He kept 39.5% of his shots on target. However, Lookman needs to improve his ball distribution after making 72.5% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via fbref.com).

Lookman is under contract at the Italian club until the summer of 2027. Hence, Spurs would have to launch a convincing offer if they are serious about signing him this off-season.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank Bring Lookman On Board?

Lookman can use his pace well to get the better of his marker out in the wide areas. He has got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet. Lookman is primarily a striker but can also function as a winger if required.

The Nigerian talent has been a consistent goal-getter in Serie A. However, only time will tell whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if Tottenham manage to bring him on board this summer.

We can expect Lookman to bring more pace and goals to Spurs boss Thomas Frank’s frontline. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the North London club next season.

Lookman would undoubtedly add more competition for Dominic Solanke and could help Tottenham challenge across all fronts in the coming years. At 27, he is about to enter his prime soon which makes him a decent option for Spurs to pursue this summer. All in all, Frank would be wise to bring Lookman on board this off-season.
