In a recent report, Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are locked in a three-way battle for Genoa ace Albert Gudmundsson this summer. It has been stated that Spurs could face competition in the form of Juventus and Inter Milan in the race to land the Icelandic attacker later this year.

Gudmundsson’s Impressive Run Of Form In Italian Football

Gudmundsson is enjoying a decent campaign at the Italian club after putting in a string of productive displays for them in the final third. The Icelandic talent has participated in 33 matches for Genoa this season, finding the back of the net on 15 occasions and earning four assists in all competitions.

The 26-year-old has been a good performer in the opposition half as he is averaging 1.7 shots, 2.4 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even been tidy when distributing possession on the offensive end of the field based on his pass completion rate of 81.6% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, it won’t be easy for Spurs to bring Gudmundsson to North London on the cheap in the upcoming transfer window.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu Move In For Gudmundsson?

Gudmundsson is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with the ball in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He has got the vision to engineer some promising chances for his teammates in the final third and can shoot the ball with venom from long range.

The Icelandic sensation can chip in by scoring his fair share of goals up top but needs to find a way to pick up more assists if he wants to prove his worth at the highest level. He mainly functions as a forward but can also fill in as a winger on either flank if asked to do so.

We can expect Gudmundsson to add more firepower to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s attack. He has what it takes to help Spurs challenge across all fronts in the coming years. Therefore, the North London outfit would be wise to move in for Gudmundsson later this year.
