Tottenham Hotspur have announced an official multi-year partnership with one of the world’s largest beverage manufacturers and distributors, Coca-Cola.
The partnership will allow Coca-Cola’s range of products to be available to visitors at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The brand took a massive hit just last year when Cristiano Ronaldo removed Coca-Cola bottles from his view at a 2020 European Championship press conference.
The Portuguese superstar then said that people should drink water instead. Ronaldo’s singular act was followed by $4 billion being knocked off the company’s market value.
However, Coca-Cola have recovered well from the hit and now signed a partnership with the north London club.
The deal will also allow fans the chance to access matchday experiences, hospitality tickets, moments with players and limited-edition merchandise prizes through Coca-Cola campaigns.
The brand has also reportedly signed long-term partnership deals to collaborate with the men’s and women’s football teams of Liverpool, Bayern München, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
Coca-Cola’s Integrated Marketing Experience Director, Michael Willeke, said: “Having been an integral part of the football matchday for decades, we are excited to offer Tottenham Hotspur fans the chance to enjoy incredible experiences and unique moments, at home, at bars and restaurants, and in the stadiums, as part of our new campaign.
“Football has the power to bring people together, and we cannot wait to reward fans across Europe with access to unforgettable moments and a host of benefits that only Coca-Cola can offer in collaboration with our partners.”
Spurs’ Chief Commercial Officer, Todd Kline, added: “We’re pleased to add Coca-Cola to our growing family of partners.
“Coca-Cola has a long history of supporting football, and we are excited to bring its products to our stadium as well as give our fans across the continent opportunities to win money-can’t-buy prizes.”
Coca-Cola is also one of the major sponsors of the France national team that is currently embroiled in a controversy after French superstar Kylian Mbappe refused to partake in a team photo.
The 23-year-old wants more control of his image rights and boycotted a photo session featuring Coca-Cola, Uber Eats and KFC.
The PSG star and his entourage did not want to be associated with certain brands, but it is unclear which of the national team’s sponsors prompted his actions.
