Tottenham Hotspur 2021-22 Season Review: Securing A Top Four Place

Spurs failed to start strong at the beginning of the season. However, adversity brings out opportunities and Conte’s arrival brought forth an upheaval of changes in the mentality back in the changing room. Tottenham were losing to the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United before the arrival of Conte. But the blow came in after the January transfer window ended when Spurs lost to Burnley in February which raised a lot of questions over the manager’s arrival and the squad’s title race. Conte was threatening to leave, amidst inconsistencies in the squad’s performances; it seemed as though he had given up being merely present for a few weeks at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

But thereafter the shift in mentality brought forth an evident change, the post-Burnley period remained as a reminder for the squad to take action and not repeat the same mistakes in the remainder of their league matches. Spurs won 11 of the 16 remaining matches in the Premier League and turned it around in the next half of the season to secure a top-four finish.
