Tottenham held to thrilling 2-2 draw by Brighton at the main stadium | OneFootball

In the third Women’s Super League game of the weekend, Tottenham Hotspur were held to an exciting 2-2 draw by Brighton.

When they back in October, Rehanne Skinner’s side enjoyed a resounding victory, putting eight past the Seagulls. Both sides are currently still mathematically in danger of being relegated, a lot was riding on this match.

Tottenham vs Brighton — How it went

With less than 13 minutes on the clock, few could have predicted the scoreline.

Elisabeth Terland’s 10th minute goal gave the visitors a pivotal early lead. The Norweigan international’s initial effort was saved by Becky Spencer. However, the Tottenham goalie was unable to hang onto the ball, with the No.11 capitalising on the error. Less than two minutes later, the visitors saw their lead slip away.

Bethany England found the equaliser for the home side — a header from a corner allowed the England international to bring the tie back level. The first half continued with chances for both sides, forcing saves from both keepers to keep the tie level.

The second half finally saw the deadlock broken. Lee Geum-Min fired home a stunning strike from 20 yards out that left Spencer unable to keep the ball out. Just as in the first half though, it wasn’t long before Tottenham found a reply.

England’s second of the afternoon came from a spell of play that saw the forward through on goal with plenty of time and space. Ultimately, an entertaining Spurs and Brighton tie finished in a 2-2 draw.

The result leaves Tottenham in ninth, and Brighton narrowly above the relegation spot in 11th.

What’s next for Tottenham and Brighton?

Tottenham will face Manchester United away before playing host to Reading. Jepson’s side will wrap up their WSL campaign with a visit to West Ham.

Brighton will next welcome West Ham and Arsenal before facing Everton away. The Seagulls will close out their campaign against Leicester at Broadfield stadium.
