Tottenham Hotspur are in the market for attacking reinforcement. Spurs need new additions, entering the race for Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel.
However, Tottenham face massive competition for his signature, with Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United keen on his services.
Another name has popped up on the Tottenham radar, and he could be a late signing for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
According to Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan striker Noah Okafor has emerged as an option for the Lilywhites in the final days of the transfer window.
Okafor has struggled to adapt to life in Italy. He has been behind Alvaro Morata and Rafel Leao in the pecking order.
The 24-year-old Swiss international (24 caps) has managed only six starts across the league and Champions League this term. He was close to joining RB Leipzig on loan but failed a medical.
He is still available for suitors, and Tottenham could snap him up to reinforce their attack.
Let’s start with the fact that he reportedly failed his Leipzig medical due to his lack of match sharpness. It appears they were worried he would take too long to get fit and decided not to pursue the deal.
Also, struggling to start ahead of an underperforming Morata does not bode well for Okafor. This is a signing that does not move the needle when the club needs ceiling raisers.
Instead of chasing a potentially unfit and unproven option, Spurs should set their sights higher and invest in a player with a genuine Premier League pedigree.
A far more astute move would be to pursue Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson. Younger, bigger, and stronger than Okafor, Ferguson has already proven himself a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League.
He possesses the raw talent and physical attributes to thrive under Postecoglou’s attacking system and offers significantly more long-term potential.
While securing his signature would likely require a substantial investment, it would be a far more prudent use of resources than gambling on Okafor.
