Tottenham Hotspur have ‘concrete interest’ in Denmark and Club Brugge’s Andreas Skov Olsen

Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a close eye on Club Brugge attacker Andreas Skov Olsen, who is representing Denmark at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, according to Het Nieuwsblad (h/t the Express).

Lucas Moura apparently could be headed out the exit doors with the Brazilian star struggling for playing time under manager Antonio Conte, especially after the arrivals of Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison.

And Skov Olsen could be a potential incoming in attack. He just recently changed clubs, joining Brugge in Belgium in January 2022 from Bologna. Not exactly a big step up, but it has worked out for him to some extent.

He is seeing regular minutes and has 14 goals and 13 assists in 38 games across competitions for his new club since joining them. That being said, his contract doesn’t expire until the summer of 2026 (Transfermarkt).

Skov Olsen to Spurs?

That could make things tough for teams that want him, because it would be a surprise if manager Carl Hoefkens will be open to losing arguably his best player before the Dane’s contract expires.

But then again, clubs like Brugge, as big as they are in Belgium, operate in reality. They can’t hold onto world-class players for too long if they want to leave, given they can’t promise those players glory and money at the level that clubs like Spurs can.

That’s not a secret, and neither is it wrong to say that. It is how the transfer market functions in modern football. Now, the main issue.

Where does he play? Dejan Kulusevski is just 22, the same age as Skov Olsen, and is one of our most important attackers, while Richarlison (25) can play there and was signed just this summer.

Skov Olsen would be a luxury signing and missing out on him won’t be the end of the world for us. It wouldn’t hurt to keep an eye on him during the World Cup. The Danes drew 0-0 with Tunisia, lost 2-1 to France, and are now scheduled to face Australia on 30 November.
