Tottenham have a concern over Dejan Kulusevski due to the fact he’s already suffered a recurrence to his hamstring injury, according to specialist Ben Dinnery.
Kulusevski hasn’t played for his club since the middle of September after sustaining an injury while playing for Sweden.
Kulusevski was on course to finally return after recovering from a minor problem, although Antonio Conte confirmed that he suffered a setback.
Speaking ahead of the Sporting Lisbon game, the Italian said: “His recovery was going well and then one day the situation worsened. When this type of situation happens, you have to restart. You need time.
“We have the medical department to face injuries and they have to solve the situation in a short period because if they do, it means points in the table.”
As a result, Tottenham supporters have been waiting anxiously every week to see whether Kulusevski is fit enough to return to action.
Ahead of the win at Bournemouth, a video emerged of the attacker doing some intense running drills, which appeared to suggest that he’s not far off being fit.
But the Marseille clash will be the tenth game he’s missed in a row, which means he’s now surely in a race against time to feature before the season pauses for the World Cup.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “The worry is that he’s had that reinjury on that recurrence when he was on the cusp of returning.
“We spoke about the [Alexander] Isak’s and the luxury that Eddie Howe has with the likes of Callum Wilson, but Conte hasn’t got that at Tottenham and the pressure is beginning to melt after that come from behind win at the weekend.”
Tottenham’s trip to the Stade Velodrome is not a must-win game, but Conte’s side cannot afford to lose.
They head to France top of their Champions League group and can secure their place in the knockout stages of the competition by simply avoiding defeat.
Should they go one better and get their first European away win of the campaign, they will progress as group winners, but defeat will see them finish third and join the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal in the Europa League.
