Tottenham Hotspur are aggressively pursuing the young attacking duo of Weston McKennie and Dejan Kulusevski

According to Italian publication Calciomercato (h/t ESPN), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Juventus stars Dejan Kulusevski and Weston McKennie.

The Lilywhites have had a tricky start to the season till now. There seemed to be a renewed sense of enthusiasm after the appointment of Antonio Conte at Tottenham but the recent loss to NS Mura in the UEFA Europa Conference League suggests that there is still a long way to go at N-17 before there can be talk of silverware.

Kulusevski and McKennie form an instrumental part of the Juventus setup. The young duo still have their prime years ahead of them and getting them at this time would certainly add dynamic, depth, and flair to this Spurs squad.

The Italian manager demands a lot from his players and his brand of attacking football could take some getting used to. The match against Mura was a wake-up call for the former Inter Milan manager and showcased the lack of squad depth in Tottenham Hotspur at the moment because the fringe players really failed to impress in Slovenia.

While one match shouldn’t be the measure of Tottenham’s strength, it surely showed some weaknesses. One was the failure to convert possession into genuine goal-scoring chances. The Swedish winger, in that regard, could bring something new to the attack. He has played 64 matches for the Bianconeri across all competitions to date during which he has scored eight goals and provided eight assists.

He has also been attracting interest from fellow London rivals Arsenal. Fabio Paratici’s previous experience with the Italian club and his links to the Serie A could also become a potential factor in any talks that happen. But that is something that only time would tell.

Tottenham Hotspur are also thought to be keen on getting Juventus attacker Weston McKennie

McKennie has also been on the radar of the North Londoners recently. With the likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli failing to make a substantial impact on a consistent basis, Tottenham could someone like McKennie in their roster, who is an experienced USA international at the tender age of 23.

The midfielder has played 61 matches across all competitions for Juventus and has become an important starter for them. Spurs have showcased their hunger to get on the front foot under their new manager but are still struggling to maintain that same intensity throughout the game.

The addition of young and hungry attackers could go a long way to help reinvigorate a squad that is still trying to rebuild itself ever since the departure of Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino. This isn’t an easy task and the former Chelsea manager would need some form of backing in the upcoming transfer windows.

The addition of players like Kulusevski and McKennie could help future proof the attacking department as well as hand Conte the ability to rotate his squad to compete across several competitions. Spurs sold Erik Lamela this summer and brought in young Bryan Gil while also seeing Gareth Bale return to Real Madrid after an explosive second half of the season under Jose Mourinho.

The Spaniard is yet to really get into rythm and we might have to wait a while before he can become a regular contributor in our attack. If we bring in Kulusevski, a player we are ‘aggresively‘ pursuing, then he would be someone we can slot in our attack to make an instant impact, while also counting on him to become one of our future starters.

But whether we sign both, or even one of them, remains to be seen.
