Tottenham are now looking at bringing in Xavi Simons to fill the gap they currently have in the number ten position.
RB Leipzig are hopeful of getting Simons off the payroll before the window shuts on Monday according to BILD.
Chelsea have been interested in the midfielder but now face competition from Spurs, who are joining the race for the Dutchman.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are both interested in signing Kobbie Mainoo from Manchester United this summer. The 20-year-old is yet to feature for Ruben Amorim’s side this season.
According to Daily Mail Sport, both clubs could be keen to bring the English midfielder in on a loan deal.
Reports suggest that Mainoo is open to staying at Old Trafford but he does want both first-team and Champions League football.
Sky Sports say that United are still in talks with Royal Antwerp over goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
United are prepared to pay £17.3 million for the Belgian but will not get involved in a bidding war. This follows reports that Galatasaray have put in a higher offer.
Lammens reportedly wants to join United but Amorim’s side are continuing to look at other goalkeepers as well.
Meanwhile, Newcastle have had another bid rejected by Wolves for Jorgen Strand Larsen.
The Athletic report that the bid was worth £55 million and it is the Magpies’ second approach for the forward.
Even though Alexander Isak has not featured for Newcastle this season, the Norweigan striker is not viewed as a replacement for the Swede.
Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Yeremy Pino from Villareal. He is being targeted as a replacement for Eberechi Eze who has now joined Arsenal.
Palace are looking to bring in the Spaniard for a fee of £26 million as per Daily Mail Sport.
They also report that the Eagles have made an approach for Manuel Akanji from Manchester City.
The defender is reportedly not in Pep Guardiola’s plans and has not played a single Premier League minute this season. City could let the Swiss international go for £15 million.
