Tottenham are “edging slightly more towards” Raphinha than Richarlison in the race for the Brazilian duo, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Antonio Conte is hoping to add depth to his frontline in the transfer window and Spurs have been linked with both attackers.

What’s the latest news involving Raphinha and Richarlison?

According to the Telegraph, Conte wants to sign an understudy to Harry Kane following Tottenham’s return to the Champions League, but Steven Bergwijn’s potential exit could leave the Italian needing to replace the Dutchman as well.

As a result, the Daily Mail believe that Spurs are interested in signing £50m-rated Richarlison, who wants to leave Everton this summer.

The versatile attacker scored 10 goals to help the Toffees successfully beat relegation last season, but he wants to challenge for major trophies and is therefore seeking a move away from Goodison Park.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are also in the running to sign Leeds star Raphinha, who’s valued at £65m by the Elland Road club, although north London rivals Arsenal have already seen an initial bid rejected, while both Chelsea and Barcelona are also in the queue for his signature.

Let’s start easy: What was Tottenham’s old ground called?

But Taylor appeared to hint that Raphinha might be a better fit for Conte, with Richarlison unlikely to dislodge either Kane or Heung Min Son from the starting line-up.

What did Taylor say about Raphinha and Richarlison?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Spurs are edging slightly more towards Raphinha at the moment.

“I think if you look at Richarlison’s profile, my personal view is he’s mainly better centrally and if you look at Tottenham’s side, he won’t have many opportunities through the middle. Outside of that, he sometimes plays off the left, and Son plays there as well.”

Who would suit Tottenham better?

In terms of goal records, they’ve been identical since Raphinha arrived in the Premier League, with both players scoring 17 top-flight goals across the last two seasons.

But while Taylor doesn’t believe Richarlison would get much game-time competing against Son and Kane, his versatility would give him more of an opportunity than Raphinha, who’s generally spent his career playing out wide.

Technically, many would agree the Leeds ace is the more talented player and someone who is capable of game changing moments, but for what Tottenham need right now, Richarlison might just edge it and be a more sensible and cheaper signing.
