Tottenham Hotspur star Cameron Carter-Vickers agrees personal terms with Celtic for a summer transfer

According to the Daily Record, Tottenham Hotspur star Cameron Carter-Vickers has agreed to personal terms with Celtic for a move in the summer transfer window. He has been with the latter on a season-long loan deal throughout the 2021-22 campaign and could stay with them permanently moving forward.

Carter-Vickers has enjoyed a fantastic spell at his loan club, having helped them to two titles this term. Tottenham had included a £6million optional clause in the deal, which could rise to £10million if certain add-ons are met in the future. They could land that fee this summer as the defender has now reached an agreement with the Celts over a permanent transfer.

The US international is keen to remain at Celtic Park, which has played a part in this development. However, the Scottish Premiership side are in a race against time as they are looking to complete the permanent transfer before June 15, when the optional clause expires. Other interested parties could enter the mix after that period, so Celtic are eager to finalise a move before that deadline.

Spurs handed transfer boost

The North London club would be delighted to see this update as it could indicate that the optional clause will be triggered this summer. That seems to be the case looking at the Scottish outfit, and the 24-year-old is eager to continue together moving forward.

Furthermore, Ange Postecoglou’s side would be further boosted by the fact that they have qualified for the next season’s Champions League. That means their position has further been bolstered by the influx of cash, giving them the necessary funds to permanently sign the North American.

Even if the buy-option is not activated, Spurs do have some safety net to work with in the form of Fulham and Bournemouth, who have shown an interest in securing the Tottenham loanee’s services. That would also prompt the Hoops to trigger the clause at the earliest, which would, in turn, be beneficial for us.

We could use all the funds that could come our way to add to our budget before we start making moves in the summer transfer window. After all, that could provide Fabio Paratici with a clear picture to work with when it comes to eyeing potential targets to back Antonio Conte in the future.

Now, we have to wait and see how this situation will pan out in the coming weeks ahead of the deadline. The fans would hope to see a positive outcome for all the parties and would also be happy to see the academy star finally finding the right club that suits his strengths.
