Tottenham Hotspur defeated Ipswich Town on Saturday to make it three wins on the spin in the Premier League for the first time since December 2023.
Spurs have won as many games in their last three as they did across the previous 15 (D2, L10). One of the reasons for their slump was the defensive crisis which ravaged the squad.
Tottenham were missing 14 first-team players at one point this season, leaving manager Ange Postecoglou without his first-choice options.
The Tottenham boss thought his injury concerns were easing up, but another player has ended up on the treatment table.
Postecoglou has confirmed that Tottenham stalwart Ben Davies has been carrying a knock and playing through the pain.
When asked whether he will be available for Manchester City tomorrow, Postecoglou said (via football.london): “No. He’s been carrying a knock for a little while, and to be fair, he’s played through it.
“But I’ve said before this is a key period, and I want as many players in the best possible condition.
“After this game, we have a seven-day break which leads into Europe, league, Europe, league – those games are massive for us.
“I don’t see the need to push. He hasn’t re-injured. He’s just been carrying something that I don’t want to push at the moment.”
Davies will be a massive miss for Tottenham. Postecoglou has previously described him as an ‘outstanding character‘.
