Tottenham Hotspur could shop in the Championship once again before the window closes, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

Spurs have already signed Djed Spence from second-tier outfit Middlesbrough, the latest in a long list of players to arrive from EFL clubs in recent years.

What’s the latest news involving Tottenham?

It’s been a bright start to the season for Antonio Conte’s side, who’ve collected four points from their opening two matches, with Harry Kane’s last-gasp goal at Chelsea extending their unbeaten run in the Premier League to eight games.

This comes after a promising transfer window, which has seen Conte bring seven new players to the club, all of which have arrived from top-flight clubs besides Spence.

Spence’s arrival in north London means he joins the likes of Dele Alli, Jack Clarke and Joe Rodon in swapping the EFL to the Premier League.

Alli aside, none of those previously before Spence have proved a success, with Clarke recently leaving permanently for Sunderland after failing to make a league appearance, while Rodon is spending the season on loan at Rennes following a lack of game-time.

Regardless, Brown reckons that Spurs could look towards the Championship market once again in the remainder of the window.

What did Brown say about Tottenham?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Daniel Levy quite likes a young player, he got Djed Spence in, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he tried to sign another one from the Championship, just to fit into the squad, but Spurs have a lot of players to get rid of.”

What else do Tottenham need?

With the likes of Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison coming off the bench at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, it’s clear to see that Conte is building an impressive squad at Tottenham.

But Spurs potentially still have a couple of gaps in their squad. Following Rodon’s departure, they currently have six centre backs in their squad, although Japhet Tanganga, who’s likely to find game-time hard to come by, has been linked with a move to Serie A this summer.

Should Tanganga end up moving on, whether that be permanently or on loan, it might force Conte to bolster his numbers with the addition of another centre-back.

In terms of the attacking areas, Steven Bergwijn’s departure means that Spurs currently have five forward players, which could see Conte look to bring in one in before 1 September, whether that be a creative midfielder or another forward.
