Real Madrid looking to negotiate a lesser fee for Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon

According to Defensa Central (h/t Football London), Real Madrid could be negotiating for Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon for a lesser fee than the original buy-back clause in the player’s agreement.

The Spanish wing-back was gaining a lot of attention ever since his loan spell at Sevilla FC where he scored 3 goals and provided 5 assists across all competitions for the Spanish club and even went on to win the UEFA Europa League.

There was every chance that his performances could grab the attention of suitors across Europe which is why Los Blancos added a buy-back clause in the 24-year-old left-back’s agreement when selling him to Tottenham last year. It is believed that the Spanish giants can re-sign the player for a price tag that is just below £34m.

However, The new report suggests that Real Madrid are looking to spend in the range between €30-33m (£25.4-28m), which is far below the initial amount that was mentioned in the agreement. The left-back has enjoyed a good spell with the Lilywhites and has gone on to cement his place in that backline.

The Spanish defender has played 45 matches across all competitions for Spurs till now and has notched up 7 assists. The North London club wouldn’t be wanting to let go of one of their key players so easily. Despite a managerial change Reguilon has managed to keep his place in the first team.

Tottenham haven’t managed to get a proper left-back to compete with the 24-year-old on a consistent level and the management would like to keep this in mind before they even entertain the thought of any move for the defender. Any move at this stage seems highly unlikely but Real Madrid are known to be really persistent when it comes to their transfer policy.
